DESCRIPTION:A project supported by the Town Hall and Local Council of Cluj-Napoca and by the Minstry of Culture and National Identity\, in the Centenary Year \nRecommended Age: 3+ \nFREE ENTRANCE \nPreceded by three successful editions (2015\, 2016 and 2017) that have ended our seasons with some first class open-air events\, watched by over 100.000 spectators in the alternative spots in Unirii’s Square and Central Park in Cluj-Napoca\, the Opera Aperta 2018 project brings this year to the audience two of the most appreciated productions: the conquering romantic comedy L’elisir d’amore signed by the belcanto composer Gaetano Donizetti\, premiered this year on our stage and the dramatic story of the chinese princess Turandot\, depicted by Puccini in the last of his masterpieces. \nOpera Aperta will take place in the 2nd – 4th September period\, and it therefore includes\, the next two lyrical events\, presented on the open-air stage in Piața Unirii Square\, with free acces: \n\nSunday\, September 2nd\, 2018\, 8 p.m. – L’elisir d’amore by Gaetano Donizetti\nTuesday\, September 4th\, 2018\, 8 p.m. – Turandot by Giacomo Puccini\n\n  \nThe two emblematic works that the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca wants to share to the Cluj public are the direct expression of the Opera Aperta basic principle: to open our curtain to the entire Cluj people\, to become an opera for everyone. \nFurthermore\, the excellency in art and culture is the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca’s first desideratum\, and its distinguished vision comes to complete the aims of our partners.

SUMMARY:L'ELISIR D'AMORE
DESCRIPTION:A production presented in collaboration with Csokonai Színház Theatre in Debrecen\, within the \,\,Opera Aperta” 2018 Project\, supported by the Town Hall and Local Council of Cluj-Napoca and by the Minstry of Culture and National Identity\, in the Centenary Year \nOpera in two acts on a libretto by Felice Romani\, based on Eugène Scribe’s Le philtre \nRecommended Age: 3+ \nFREE ENTRANCE \nAlready famous to the public of Milano due to his previous work Anna Bolena\, Gaetano Donizetti composed L’elisir d’amore with his typical speed and enthusiasm\, raising the curtain of a comical dramatic masterpiece\, both innocent and profound. The homourous side of the story rests in the general attitude of Nemorino – an irrecoverable lover who is strongly convinced that the potion (in fact\, a simple Bordeaux wine) traded by Dulcamara\, a charlatan\, will bring him the love of the fancy Adina\, the one his heart wants with fervor. \nThe depth of the opera rests\, on the other side\, in the sacrifice that Nemorino is willing to make in order to obtain the necessary amount of money for buying a second elixir bottle. He is determined to enroll for good. Is this sacrifice the love proof that prevents Adina from marying her ideal candidate – Sergent Belcore. \nAlthough\, apparently\, the happy end of this love-story can be associated with the miraculous L’elisir d’amore\, the critical factor in bringing these two young people together consists in their own maturing process\, which has been successful! \nThe performance ends around 11.00 p.m.
