SUMMARY:THE ROMANIAN STORY
DESCRIPTION:THE ABSOLUTE PREMIERE \nA performance realised within the project \,\,România 100″\, supported by the Minstry of Culture and National Identity\, in the Centenary Year \nOpera in two acts (libretto by Cosmina Timoce-Mocanu) \nRecommended Age: 8+ \nWe cellebrate one century of existence by recalling our history \nThe Romanian Story fresco by Dan Variu was created at the special request of the National Romanian Opera in Cluj-Napoca\, intended to hallmark our Great Union Centenary and to give everyone the opportunity to meet the richness of our culture and our national identity in an unique artistic production. \nThe Romanian Story carries us in a fascinating journey along the crucial moments of our history\, starting from legend times (when the folklore used to be our ancestors’ only way of expression)\, then in the stage of gradually assimilation of Christianity and the Byzantine rite\, continuing with the events the preceded the Great Union\, the Inter-war years\, the Communist\, post-Communist stages until our present times. Both the performers and the public will get in thouch\, by artistic means\, with the influences – stylistic\, social and cultural – that left a mark on romanian values\, but also on romanian present and future perspectives. \nThis complexity of elements involved the creation team\, soloists and ensembles of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca\, but also some national and internationally acclaimed guests and bands\, featuring the great artistic diversity found within the opera\, just to name a few of them: Dan Bittman\, \,\,Icoane” Traditional Music Ensemble of \,\,Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca\, \,\,Mugurelul” Students’ Folklore Ensemble of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca\, Psaltic Group of the Orthodox Theology Faculty in Cluj-Napoca and others. We thus invite you to join us on a significant and authentic romanian cellebration! \nThe performance has one break and ends around 9.30 p.m. \nDuring the break\, in the foyer: Launching the first Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca’s History (1919-1945) volume by Caius Olariu\, Editors: Varga Attila\, Florin Estefan and Anca Pintilie \n
