SUMMARY:YOUNG ARTISTS ON THE OPERA STAGE
DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with „Gheorghe Dima” National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca \nRecommanded age: 7+ \nMOZART MASHUP \nCould you even image the fascinating encounter between Cherubino\, from The marriage of Figaro\, Don Giovanni\, from the opera with the same name\, and Don Alfonso from Così fan tutte? What would these heroes of the Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy tell eachother? Could they possibly guess they are actually one and the very same person\, but in different stages of evolution and transformation – the first one being the adolescent afflicted with juvenile urges\, the second – the matured man who transformed seduction into a lethal weapon – and the third one – the old man\, whose cinism would have defined the first two if they had lived long enough? Without a doubt\, if he hadn’t died on the front\, Cherubino would have become Don Giovanni and Don Giovanni would have become the sour old man who would judgementally say così fan tutte! Error! He should have said così facciamo tutti! \nThis daring performance brings together fragments of the three fairy tales\, the narrators being the three heroes\, who brag and complain to eachother about the victories and defeats of the endless hunting game. Who is the hunter and who is the prey? Come in and discover! And\, at the end\, decide for yourself if we all actually do it “in the same way”. \n  \nTHE MAGIC FLUTE\nDIE ZAUBERFLÖTE\nW. A. MOZART \nThe Magic Flute\, a story for all ages\, is presented this time with the youthful breath of the students of the „Gheorghe Dima” National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. The short\, but unitary version (1 hour and 15 minutes) is performed integrally in Romanian\, the liaison texts are adapted and written in verse by the artistic director of the work.\nShortly\, we assist at the adventures of the birder Papageno in a magical world of prudence\, truth\, courage and\, not least\, of the love for all people around. The fairy tale characters – Prince Tamino\, Princess Pamina\, The Queen of the Night\, The High Priest Sarastro and Monostatos – will guide the footsteps of the likable birder in order to obtain these virtues.  \nThe general stage concept\, very ingeniously created by the scenographer\, presents a gateway between worlds and\, also\, the symbol of Evil which\, by purification through love\, will transform itself in a temple of absolute Bliss. The costumes are also original and appropriate for the story’s funny characters.\nThe enthusiastic and passionate cast\, the cheerful and lovely gameplay combined with the evocative text – are all the finest of ingredients for an engaging and fluent performance!  \n  \nLA CONTESSA MARITZA \nThe protagonist of the performance is Contesa Maritza from the operetta with the same name by Emmerich Kálmán. The scenary\, though\, is original\, belonging to Ina Hudea. The pretext of the whole action is represented by a party where Contesa Maritza invites famous characters from beloved operettas like Silvia and Contesa Maritza by Emmerich Kálmán\, Giuditta\, The Merry Widow and The Land of Smiles by Franz Lehár\, Lăsaţi-mă să cânt by Gherase Dendrino and The Bat by Johann Strauss II.   \nThe characters\, ingeniously depicted by the artistic direction\, are comic prototypes of personalities\, their interaction generating numerous changes in the plot. The superficial and amusing intrigue that are created at this party\, the music\, the dance and the special voices of the protagonists are delightful for the public. Come and join us!  \nThe performance has two breaks and ends around 2 p.m.
