DESCRIPTION:Ballet in five scenes \nMusic: GEORGES BIZET- RODION SCEDRIN \nThe ballet script: EMIL STRUGARU\, after the novel of the same name by PROSPER MÉRIMÉE \nThe impetus and reason for the creation of the ballet “Carmen” was the burning desire of Rodion Scedrin’s wife\, the famous ballerina Maya Plisetskaya\, to reproduce the strong\, impetuous character of the passionate protagonist through dance. Since contemporaries considered that Scedrin’s version “insults Bizet’s masterpiece”\, from which it started as inspiration\, it was necessary for the composer Dmitri Shostakovich himself to intervene in order for the ballet to be found on the list of approval of the communist regime\, an intervention that transformed it in Scedrin’s most famous work. \nBefore 1967\, when the work was written\, Maya Plisetskaya had approached Shostakovich with a view to composing the ballet\, but the response was not up to her expectations; the composer offered him a confession and a justification at the same time: “I’m afraid of Bizet; everyone knows his music\, so however you want to compose\, you’re bound to disappoint.” \nRespecting the same narrative thread of the opera\, the Carmen ballet incites\, delights\, delights\, being crossed by Bizet’s charming melodies\, which Scedrin dressed up with extravagant sound effects and fascinating ornaments\, proving to us\, definitely\, that it will not there was ever room for disappointment in the effect of his music.\n“Carmen” will always charm you\, with a love story carried through intrigues and betrayals\, passion and revenge\, alongside the sensual gypsy and her Don José\, unique and eternal in the universal lyrical repertoire. \nThe show has an intermission and ends around 8:15 pm \nRecommended age: 5 +
