During the tour you will learn more about the history and architecture of the building and of this opera institution in general. SUMMARY:THE MERRY WIDOW
DESCRIPTION:Operetta in three acts on a libretto by Victor Léon and Leo Stein after the comedy L’attaché d’ambassade by Henri Meilhac \nPerformance played in Romanian \nRecommended age: 12+ \nThe operetta arranged on composer Franz Lehár’s suave notes has managed to trigger an upsurge of laugh and sympathy since its 1905 absolute premiere\, when the Austrian composer set the tone of a new approach upon the genre. Through “Die lustige Witwe“\, Lehár became instantly a reformer of operetta\, reviving the atmosphere of performance halls all over the world and continuing to this day to fascinate generations of music lovers with its brightness and melodicity. \nThe vivacious and romantic music of “The Merry Widow”\, entwined with the sparkling dialogues of the protagonists\, depict in a delightful manner the precious high society from the 20th century La Belle Époque. The young and seductive widow Hanna and the charming Count Danilo\, the operetta’s heroes\, live a sloppy love story\, among deeply rooted vanities and ambitious intrigues. Everything mixes in a savoury performance\, filled with intense feelings and hilarious twists\, against the sound of passionate waltz and French can-can\, much to the public’s delight. \nThe performance has three intermissions and ends at around 9.30 p.m.
