Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet has captured the hearts and sparked the imaginations of audiences of all ages around the world since its premiere at the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg on December 6\, 1892. What better gift could the composer have given to children everywhere than this lyrical tradition\, which heralds the holiday season with joyous enthusiasm and unforgettable music? \nAdapted over the years as ice ballets\, films\, animated stories\, and illustrated books\, this enchanting two-act ballet gracefully unfolds to the timeless score of the Russian composer\, based on Alexandre Dumas’ version of Hoffmann’s fairy tale. \nThe winter tale transports us to the festive drawing room of the Silberhaus family\, where loved ones gather to celebrate around the Christmas tree. Little Maria and her brother Fritz dive into their presents\, the most treasured of all being the stately Nutcracker.
