DESCRIPTION:Opera in three acts (libretto by Antonio Somma\, based on Eugéne Scribe’s Gustav the Third) \nUn ballo in Maschera found itself for the first time in the spotlight on Apollo’s Theatre stage in Rome\, becoming famous not just as an operatic masterpiece\, but also due to its controversial libretto\, based on the tragic story of King Gustav the Third of Sweden\, which also brought the work under the censorship effects for a long period. \nThe historical setting is centered upon Riccardo – Count of Warwick\, his truthful friend Renato\, and his wife\, Amelia\, caught in between the two men’s love. The medieval story is fascinating because of its passion and intrigue\, the sanctity of friendship and honor\, the pain as a consequence of hidden love triangles\, and betrayal that\, without masque\, will always require huge costs in exchange. This Verdian production of The Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca keeps its classic essence\, the characters\, decor\, and stage directions’ original nature\, looking forward to a natural rendering of the whole action\, but also of the intense feelings of its heroes. \nWe are expecting you to discover what lies beyond the elegant masks in a legendary opera! \nThe performance is interpreted in Italian with a supratitration in Romanian. \nThe performance has two intermissions and ends around 9.30 p.m. \nRecommended Age: 7+
