SUMMARY:From Mozart to Django Reinhardt
DESCRIPTION:Cluj Chamber Music Festival\, now in its 4th edition\, proposes a new perspective on chamber music — an open space where tradition and experimentation coexist. The programme moves across styles and eras\, from Renaissance polyphony to jazz and crossover projects\, bringing together international artists\, established musicians\, and emerging performers. Set within a network of unconventional venues — from churches to inner courtyards and alternative spaces — the festival creates connections and invites audiences to rediscover chamber music beyond conventional frameworks. \nThe concert From Mozart to Django Reinhardt closes the festival with a programme that freely traverses stylistic boundaries\, in an expanded format bringing together the Violoncellissimo ensemble\, voice\, and a jazz trio. Conceived by Teodora Brody\, the project proposes a reconstruction of classical and jazz repertoire through a contemporary lens\, in which works are reinterpreted\, reimagined\, and integrated into a unified musical discourse. \nFrom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Django Reinhardt\, from George Enescu to Fats Waller\, the programme brings together well-known works transformed through arrangements that create dialogue between styles\, eras\, and musical languages. In this context\, the cello\, the voice\, and the jazz instruments do not function as separate entities\, but as parts of an ensemble in constant transformation\, generating a fluid and unpredictable sonic space. \nAbout the artists \nTeodora Brody\, one of the most acclaimed voices of Romanian jazz\, is an artist with a strong international presence\, collaborating with renowned musicians and developing projects that explore the intersection of jazz\, classical music\, and Romanian sonic identity. \nVioloncellissimo\, founded by Marin Cazacu\, is one of the most representative Romanian chamber projects\, bringing together generations of cellists in a spectacular and flexible format. Together with Andrei Petrache (piano)\, Adrian Flautistu (double bass)\, and Bogdan Pop (percussion)\, the project expands into a broader dimension where ensemble energy meets the freedom of improvisation. \nWe invite you on Sunday\, May 17\, at 7:00 PM\, to the Grand Hall of the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca for a concert that closes the festival in an open\, dynamic\, and stylistically boundless form. \nCluj Chamber Music Festival – 4th edition – does not propose a formula. It proposes a state of mind.A festival that does not tell you how to listen to chamber music\, but invites you to rediscover it.
