On the day of it’s 100th celebration, our opera house has open its doors widely and revealed the curtain!

Who hasn’t at least once dreamt of secretly rising the curtain, and uncover all the mistery it shatters? On Wednesday, the 18th of September 2019, the wish came true!

At 100 years from its creation, The Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca has widely open the doors and for all those fascinated with the story behind the performances, inviting the public to discover all the mazes of this impressive building, which upholds centenary secrets and brings joy with every curtain call.

The guided tours were projected throughout the entire day, with free entrance for all members of the public, by a previous noting.

The anniversary event precisely marked 100 years from the establishment of The Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca – the first lyric institution in our country, on September, 18, 1919, by the decision of the Governing Council of The Kingdom of Romania. Ever since, our opera house has been an artistic Transylvanian epicenter, and a guiding institution on the map of Europe’s most notable opera companies – a tradition it keeps just as alive today.

In the same celebrative spirit, the guided visits were complimented by a special TV show, live broadcasted from the Opera by TVR Cluj. Especially dedicated, the Regiunea în obiectiv edition had as special guests official representatives of our lyric institution, who revealed exceptional stories and historical facts. The TV show was also aired through live streaming on the official Facebook pages of TVR Cluj, and the Opera, and later broadcasted by TVR 3, and the Romanian National Television’s Youtube channel.
