Cluj Chamber Music Festival, now in its 4th edition, proposes a new perspective on chamber music — an open space where tradition and experimentation coexist. The programme moves across styles and eras, from Renaissance polyphony to jazz and crossover projects, bringing together international artists, established musicians, and emerging performers. Set within a network of unconventional venues — from churches to inner courtyards and alternative spaces — the festival creates connections and invites audiences to rediscover chamber music beyond conventional frameworks.
The festival opens with a return to the expressive core of chamber music: the lied. Schubert: The Art of Lieder brings to the stage students from the Voice Department of the Gheorghe Dima National Academy of Music — young artists in the midst of their artistic formation, selected for their sensitivity and refined musicality. The programme is dedicated to the music of Franz Schubert, where the relationship between voice and piano becomes essential, and expression is shaped through detail and nuance. It is an opening that highlights both the fragility and the expressive power of chamber music, reflected through the energy and authenticity of a new generation of performers.
We invite you on Thursday, May 7, at 7:00 PM, at the Studio Hall of the Gheorghe Dima National Academy of Music.
Cluj Chamber Music Festival does not propose a formula. It proposes a state of mind.
A festival that does not tell you how to listen to chamber music, but invites you to rediscover it.
