Cluj Chamber Music Festival, now in its 4th edition, proposes a new perspective on chamber music — an open space where tradition and experimentation coexist. The programme moves across styles and eras, from Renaissance polyphony to jazz and crossover projects, bringing together international artists, established musicians, and emerging performers. Set within a network of unconventional venues — from churches to inner courtyards and alternative spaces — the festival creates connections and invites audiences to rediscover chamber music beyond conventional frameworks.

The concert Spring Fantasies proposes a programme centered around French sonorities, in a refined chamber setting — flute and harp. The dialogue between the two instruments creates an airy sonic space, where melodic line and timbral colour complement each other in a delicate balance.

The repertoire includes works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel, Jacques Ibert, and Jean Françaix, alongside the Sonata for flute and harp by Nino Rota — the only work that opens the programme towards a different stylistic direction. Together, these works create a luminous musical journey in which elegance, fluidity, and suggestion become central elements.

About the artists

Flautist Anna Szallós-Kis is a member of the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca Orchestra and collaborates with major orchestras across Romania, while also developing a constant activity in pedagogy and chamber music.

Harpist Kati Kinga Szabó, principal harpist of the Transilvania State Philharmonic, is an active presence on the Romanian music scene, both in orchestral repertoire and chamber projects, and is also involved in the academic activity of the Gheorghe Dima National Academy of Music.

We invite you on Thursday, May 14, at 7:00 PM, to the Youth Pavilion (Pavilionul Tinerilor) for a concert that highlights the ethereal timbre and complementarity of the two instruments.

Cluj Chamber Music Festival – 4th edition – does not propose a formula. It proposes a state of mind.
A festival that does not tell you how to listen to chamber music, but invites you to rediscover it.
