description

show category: musical

Musical in two acts after the theatre play “Pygmalion” by George Bernard Shaw, on the music of Frederick Loewe

Recommended age: 5+

Presented for the first time on Broadway, in 1956, My Fair Lady tells the story of Eliza Doolittle – a poor simple flower girl from the streets of London, and Henry Higgins – an acclaimed linguistic Professor, and expert in the art of phonetics, dared by his friend, Colonel Pickering, in a bet that he will succeed in presenting Eliza to the Embassy Ball as an elegant high society lady. This is how Eliza’s unbelievable, yet extremely humorous transformation begins, while being “polished up” in high rank.

The memorable melodies of this beloved musical have been the standing points of the movie produced in 1964 under the same name, proud winner of eight Oscars, staring the one and only Audrey Hepburn and charming Rex Harrison.
