OPERA APERTA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 2026

As part of the Opera Aperta 2026, on Friday, June 26, at 6:30 PM, audiences are invited to experience one of the most passionate and refined masterpieces of Italian verismo: Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea, in a production presented by the Romanian National Opera Timișoara.

Inspired by the real-life destiny of the celebrated French actress Adrienne Lecouvreur, the opera unfolds an intense story of love, jealousy, power, and sacrifice, set within the sophisticated and tension-filled atmosphere of 18th-century Parisian theatre. Between the backstage world of the Comédie-Française and the intrigues of the aristocracy, Cilea creates an elegant and deeply emotional musical universe in which Italian lyricism meets French refinement. Iconic pages such as “Io son l’umile ancella,” “La dolcissima effigie,” and the haunting “Poveri fiori” transform this opera into an experience of remarkable emotional intensity.

In the leading roles, audiences will have the opportunity to see soprano Claudia Pavone and tenor Carlo Ventre, two artists acclaimed on major international stages. Carlo Ventre, celebrated for his dramatic voice and expressive power, has performed at venues such as Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Opéra National de Paris, interpreting some of the most demanding roles of the spinto-dramatic repertoire. Claudia Pavone, one of the most highly regarded sopranos of the new Italian generation, has appeared on stages such as Teatro La Fenice, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro di San Carlo, and Deutsche Oper Berlin, earning recognition for the refinement of her vocal artistry and the intensity of her stage presence.

Adriana Lecouvreur offers an immersion into a world where theatre and life become inseparable, and emotion emerges as the central force of human destiny — an evening of opera where elegance, passion, and drama converge in a production of extraordinary artistic intensity.

The performance includes two intermissions and will end around 9:30 PM.
