show category: Concert

Cluj Chamber Music Festival, now in its 4th edition, proposes a new perspective on chamber music — an open space where tradition and experimentation coexist. The programme moves across styles and eras, from Renaissance polyphony to jazz and crossover projects, bringing together international artists, established musicians, and emerging performers. Set within a network of unconventional venues — from churches to inner courtyards and alternative spaces — the festival creates connections and invites audiences to rediscover chamber music beyond conventional frameworks.

The concert Venezia nel Mondo proposes a musical journey inspired by the Venetian imaginary, reflected in works by composers from different places and eras. From the French refinement of Reynaldo Hahn to the Russian lyricism of Sergei Rachmaninoff and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, as well as the Italian expressivity of Gioachino Rossini and Gaetano Donizetti, the programme outlines a Venice reimagined through variations of the same musical vision.

The repertoire includes the Venezia cycle by Reynaldo Hahn, works such as the Barcarolle by Sergei Rachmaninoff and the Barcarolle from The Seasons by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, alongside pages by Charles Gounod, Franz Liszt, Jules Massenet, and Gaetano Donizetti. The programme highlights the versatility and expressive diversity of this sonic universe, while the alternation between vocal moments and solo piano interventions creates a fluid and cohesive musical narrative.

About the artists

Italian bass Roberto Scandiuzzi is one of the leading voices of the international opera scene, with a career built on the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Teatro alla Scala, where he made his debut early in his artistic journey. His commanding stage presence and rich timbre define him as a reference interpreter of the bass repertoire.

Pianist Nino Pavlenichvili, trained in Tbilisi and active on European stages, is a musician with extensive experience in collaborating with opera singers. She has been involved in numerous prestigious productions and festivals and is recognized for the refinement of her accompaniment and her stylistic versatility.

We invite you on Monday, May 11, at 7:00 PM, to the Piarist Church (Biserica Pietati) for a concert that recreates, through music, the atmosphere and imagery of a Venice without borders.

Cluj Chamber Music Festival – 4th edition – does not propose a formula. It proposes a state of mind.
A festival that does not tell you how to listen to chamber music, but invites you to rediscover it.
