Cluj Chamber Music Festival, now in its 4th edition, proposes a new perspective on chamber music — an open space where tradition and experimentation coexist. The programme moves across styles and eras, from Renaissance polyphony to jazz and crossover projects, bringing together international artists, established musicians, and emerging performers. Set within a network of unconventional venues — from churches to inner courtyards and alternative spaces — the festival creates connections and invites audiences to rediscover chamber music beyond conventional frameworks.
The concert Wooden Echoes brings to the forefront a rarely encountered sonic concept: a marimba ensemble functioning as a single musical organism. Four instruments with a deep and warm resonance come together to create a dense acoustic space, where timbre becomes the central element.
The programme features contemporary works written for percussion ensembles, signed by composers such as Emmanuel Séjourné, Nebojša Živković, and Mark Ford. Latin rhythms, jazz influences, and repetitive structures intertwine with a carefully calibrated writing style, offering a dynamic journey in which energy and precision remain in constant balance.
About the artists
The Wooden Echoes Ensemble, formed by Amelia Trifu, Michael Blescun, Patrick Cojerean, and Philip Goron, brings together four musicians with shared experience in percussion ensembles and diverse artistic projects. Their current collaboration builds on a long-standing artistic journey, shaping this formation into a coherent and well-defined project in which each individual contribution supports a unified sonic aesthetic.
We invite you on Wednesday, May 13, at 7:00 PM, to the Cinema Victoria for a concert that offers a unique sonic experience, where rhythm, resonance, and space become essential.
Cluj Chamber Music Festival – 4th edition – does not propose a formula. It proposes a state of mind.
A festival that does not tell you how to listen to chamber music, but invites you to rediscover it.
