Dear spectators,
According to the decision of National Committee for Emergency Situations, all the perfomances are allowed only in accordance with the legal regulations in force that is, the following conditions:
- public participation is allowed up to 30% of the perfomance hall capacity
- every spectator has to present the official QR Code of their SARS-CoV-2 certificate (digital or on paper) and prove that they have been fully vaccinated
- every spectator has to present the proof that he is between 15 and 180 days after the confirmation of contacting the SARS-CoV-2 virus
Everyone participating the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca events, has to present their SARS-CoV-2 certificate (digital or on paper) through the official digital certificate approved by the European Union, according to the provisions of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 68/2021 on the adoption of measures for the implementation of the European framework for the issuance verification and acceptance of the digital certificate COVID-19 of the European Union.
Be aware that every official certificate has to be accompanied by an identity document.
All of the above doesn’t apply to children below 12 years old.

Innovative music, drama and a lively intrigue. Those are the exact words how we could describe La fanciulla del West, a performance where Giacomo Puccini launches one of the most powerful questions: love or justice? After a successful representation in the concert version at Sibiu Opera Festival, The Romanian National Opera in Cluj Napoca invites its audience to enter and feel the Western American life in an interactive meeting with the producers of the premiere – the Conductor, Scenographer and last but not least the Art Director – from whom you cand find and discover the answer to every question one could possibly ask the Pucinni’s masterpiece. Moreover, the event comes against the background of the 111 years since the premiere in December 1910, which took place at Metropolitan Opera in New York with an instant success. ‘My heart was beating in the rhythm of the music”, said the composer for The New York Times after the premiere.
After the success of Madama Butterfly, Puccini is looking for a new libretto, in the end choosing the song The Girl of the Golden West by the American author David Belasco. The Libretto has been completed in August 1909, and Puccini needed almost a year to finish the score. The main subject of the performance is about the story of the two lovers, Minnie and Dick. Finding out that Dick is actually a member of a thieves band, known as Ramerrez and wanted by the police, Minnie, being in love with him, she is thinking about an escape plan. The Sheriff is flirting with Minnie, but when he finds out that she is hiding Ramerrez, the action rapidly changes. Can the young thieve leave everything behind and start from scratch with Minnie? The main question which offers the necessary sparkle of this performance.
